In Association with Art.com The scales of Libra represent balance and justice, harmony and fairness. The constellation depicts Themis, the Greek goddess of Justice. Ancient Greeks believed that when the Golden Age of humanity arrived, she (true justice) would return to the world. Above all, Libras want people to be fair, to them and to others. The one thing that really gets these usually non-confrontational people riled up is feeling they’re not getting what they deserve.

Libras are magnetic, charming social butterflies that project their best self and bring out the best in others. They are excellent listeners and conversationalists. Intuitive and kind, they are good at lending a sympathetic ear. In return, they expect to be admired and to be the center of attention (it’s only fair, right?).

Venus, the ruling planet, adorns Libras with a love of pleasure and luxury. They don’t love money but do love what can be done with it. Possessions are important to them, especially those that add a splash of elegance. Venus also lends a tendency to base impressions of people on appearances alone. This is a dangerous practice since appearances can be deceiving.

Love of beauty inclines Libras towards all areas of the arts. If they have talents, they cultivate them. If they want to achieve artistic success very badly, they can rise to the top of their fields. Libras do, however, have a tendency to want little badly enough to work very hard for it. Hard work (if they're the ones doing it) repels them.

Libras are romantics at heart and feel they won't be satisfied until they find true love. They are affectionate and sentimental. They tend to focus primarily on themselves in relationships, however. Libras are in love with being loved and fall in and out easily. Once they have captivated and enchanted a partner completely, they start to lose interest.

Harmony is essential to a Libras happiness. Fortunately, they're able to view situations from all sides and are great at smoothing things over. In situations where they can’t talk things into a better space, they can go to extremes to avoid conflict.
