Intuitive Eating for Weightloss

If you're tired of fad diets and obssessing about what to eat, how much to eat, and when to eat it then it's time to tap into intuitive eating. Everyone is born with a natural instinct but over time all the noise from food ads, the latest fad diet, new research studies and well meaning friends begins to drown out your body's own common sense. Evelyn Tribole author of Intuitive Eating: A Revolutionary Program That Works, shares three great tips to help you start listening to your body so you can reach a healthy weight the healthy way.

Reject The Diet Mentality: "Throw out the diet books and magazine articles that offer you false hope of losing weight quickly, easily, and permanently. Get angry at the lies that have led you to feel as if you were a failure every time a new diet stopped working and you gained back all of the weight. If you allow even one small hope to linger that a new and better diet might be lurking around the corner, it will prevent you from being free to rediscover Intuitive Eating " says Tribole. Try shifting your mind set and seeing food for what it is; nutrients, fuel, energy, then you can begin to make better choices more easily.

Honor Your Hunger: "Keep your body biologically fed with adequate calories and carbs. Otherwise you can trigger a primal drive to overeat. Once you reach the moment of excessive hunger, all intentions of moderate, conscious eating are fleeting and irrelevant. Learning to honor this first biological signal sets the stage for re-building trust with yourself and food" explains Tribole. Pay attention to hunger cues and try feeding your body the fuel it needs in the right amount. This keep you in total control of what and how much you eat.

Honor Your Feelings Without Using Food "Anxiety, loneliness, boredom, anger are emotions we all experience throughout life. Each has its own trigger, and each has its own appeasement. Food won't fix any of these feelings. Find ways to comfort , nurture, distract, and resolve your issues without using food" suggests Tribole. Come up with other activities that will ease bad feeling then make a list and put that list in a visible place so you have something to turn to when you're struggling with emotions.
