On a recent visit to Las Vegas, we enjoyed a delicious meal at the Luxor's Pyramid Cafe. The Luxor offers many dining options. We needed something that was family friendly, but not McDonald's (there's one in the Luxor food court). The Pharoah's Pheast Buffet looked great, but it was pretty late and we weren't that hungry, so we opted for the less expensive,24-hour dining option.
The cafe carried on the Luxor’s Egyptian themed decor. Hieroglyphs covered columns and some of the ceiling throughout the restaurant. Some parts of the ceiling were painted with blue sky and fluffy white clouds, while other areas had colorful Egyptian paintings. Seating options included tables with chairs and booths.
We had to wait a bit for a non-smoking table and the host took pity on our kids. He gave them each a small bag of crackers to munch on until our table was ready. He told us they didn’t have a children’s menu but assured us there were plenty of things they would like. About twenty minutes later the host seated us at a comfortable booth on a terrace slightly above the casino. The padded seats were upholstered in royal gold and purple colors.
The host was right - even without a children's menu, there were plenty of kid-friendly dinner options. I found it difficult to choose among all the different entrees. The Pyramid Cafe menu included burgers, fish and chips, chicken pot pie, salads, pizza and more. I finally decided on the Jumbo Fried Shrimp and my husband ordered the Taco Salad. The boys decided to share the Chicken Tenderloins and French Fries.
The service was a bit slow, but we munched on delicious, hot bread sticks while we waited. Our server was very attentive and stopped by several times to see if we needed anything and to let us know our food would be up soon.
When our dinner finally arrived, it was delicious. The shrimp and the chicken were both served in fun, tall, cone shaped baskets. Everything tasted great. The shrimp were cooked just right and had a tasty seasoning in the breading. The Taco Salad had a good balance of ingredients - just the right mix of lettuce, beans, meat, etc., and the shell was fresh and crisp. The kids had plenty of chicken and fries and we even took some left-overs back to the hotel.
Overall we enjoyed the Pyramid Cafe at the Luxor, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal between games or with the family. The food was good and the prices affordable. The service was a bit slow but the staff was friendly and attentive. It was a very enjoyable evening.
