Creator God, Lord of the Sun, source of masculine vitality and sexual energy. Often combined with Ra to form the solar divinity Amon-Ra. Anubis Protector and Patron of mortuaries, overseer of the judgement of the dead in the Hall of the Two Truths; guide and presiding spirit of embalming and the journey of departed souls to their final destiny. Anukis Goddess of the Lower Nile, fertility of the fields, birth and midwifery. Apepi Eternal enemy of Amon-Ra, personification of evil and malignancy. Patron of Shadow and Darkness. Apis Intermediary between the Human and Divine worlds, son of Isis and living incarnation of Ptah. Aten The solar disc, portrayed as a hand extending from a radiant solar disc, never by humanoid or animal imagery. Atum Sun God, self-created Primordial Being who in turn created Su and Tefnut. Often combined with Ra, under the style of Atum-Ra, aspect of the sun as it sets in the west. Banebdjedet Consort of Hatmehet. Bastet Female aspect and daughter of the Sun God, personification of the retributive element of the Sun, bringer of divine vengeance to Amon-Ra's enemies. Patroness of domestic cats. Benu Sun God, usually considered an aspect of Atum and, like Him, self-created in Primordial times, connected with rebirth in the afterlife. Bes A grotesque looking dwarf, protective and benign. A male Guardian of women in childbirth, a ward against dangerous creatures of all sorts. Buto A Sun Goddess, personification of Ra's retributive power and an Aspect of the cleansing and purifying power of the sun's heat, primary defender of authority, especially royal, and tutelary Goddess of Lower Egypt. Also connected with maternal powers, wetnurse of Horus, and mother of Nefertum. Geb An Earth-God, Lord of vegetation and the vitality of the soil, Patron of herbalism, and a healer. Son of Su and Tefnut, brother and consort of Nut, father of Osiris, Isis, Seth, and Nephthys. Hapy Androgynous fertility God of the Nile, and director of the annual innundation. Hatmehet Consort of Banebdjedet, Guardian and Patron of fishermen and the fishing industry. Hathor Daughter of Ra, and Goddess of love and sexuality; mother of all the Pharoahs, and Royal princesses automatically were Her priestesses by birth. She has many functions, including oracular knowledge of every childs destiny, and a patronage of music and dance. Hauhet One of the eight Primal Beings of the Ogdoad, paired with Heh as co-spirit of Infinity. Heh One of the eight Primal Beings of the Ogdoad, paired with Hauhet as co-spirit of Infinity. Heket Goddess of birth, particularly alleviating the dangers and pain of the process. Heretkau Cthonic mortuary Goddess, protectress of souls in the afterlife. Often shown as a servant or assistant to Isis. Hesat Goddess of pregnancy and source of mothers' milk. The mother of Anubis. Horus Son, posthumously, of Osiris by Isis, and symbol of divine vengeance. Originator of the Egyptian state and it's first sovereign, after winning it from Seth when he avenged the slaughter of his father. Pharaohs were from then on regarded as the Earthly incarnations of Horus. Isis Daughter of Geb and Nut, sister and consort of Osiris, mother of Horus. Female Aspect of national stability and sovereignty, as well as being a primary symbol of nurturance and motherhood. Paramount in magical power, Her Name figured in all manner of incantations, especially those of healing. Later she became an important symbol of divine sanction for rebirth and reincarnation, and several mystery cults were formed around her. Khenty-Imentiu A lesser war God, associated with Osiris, also pilot of the Solar Boat. Kheper An Aspect of Ra, responsible for maintaining the sun's course across the sky. Khnum Craftsman of the Gods, he created life upon his potter's wheel at the command of the Primal deities. Khonsu Moon God. Originally regarded as the child of Amon and Mut, divinity invoked in exorcisms and in rites of healing. Mafdet Goddess of judicial authority and divine patroness of executions, a functionary within the Hall of Two Truths. Ma'at Goddess of law, truth, and cosmic order. Personification of the scales in the Hall of Two Truths upon which Osiris weighs the heart of deceased souls for guilt. Every Pharoah was considered the "Beloved of Ma'at", the pillar around which orderly society flourishes. Min) God of male sexuality and male virility and mines. A son of Isis, He represents the vigour of each successive Pharoah. Montu A war God, originating in Upper Egypt. Mut Tutelary Goddess of Thebes and a parallel to Sakhmet. Nefertum A lesser primordial being, personifies the Blue Lotus of Ra. Nehebukau Minor God of healing, protector against snakebite and scorpion sting. Neith Primordial Goddess, self-created and self-creating; tracer of the Nile's course and the foundress of the city of Sais, established when She brought the Nile to the sea. Among many other functions, Patroness of the Loom, and of spinning. Nekhbet Tutelary Goddess of Upper Egypt, protectress and ministrant to childbirth. Nephthys Youngest daughter of Geb and Nut, often regarded as the consort of Seth. Sometimes the mother of Anubis. Mortuary protectress, guide to the spirits of deceased Pharoahs. Nun One of the eight Primal Beings of the Ogdoad, paired with Naunet as co-spirit of Emptyness. Nut Goddess of sky and wind, daughter of Su and Tefnut, Sister and consort of Geb, mother of Osiris and Isis, Seth and Nephthys, arching vault of the heavens, with a body of sparkling starlight. Through Her mouth the Sky-boat of the Sun passes each evening, from her vulva it re-emerges and the day is reborn. The thunder is Her voice. Onuris Warrior God with solar aspects, the active principal of solar power against enemies, patron of hunters and the chase. Osiris Eldest child of Geb and Nut, posthumous father of Horus. The Path of destiny, and the afterlife, judge of departed souls in the Hall of Two Truths, and general guardian, guide, and ruler of the afterworld. Osiris represents the promise of eternal life and the victoryof order and meaning over chaos. Friend, Saviour, and ultimate master of mankind. Ptah Creator God, self-creating and self-creative, bringing the Primal Chaos into order and form with his voice, patron to all the crafts, arts and sciences. He is the consort of Sekhmet and father of Nefertum. Ra Sun God, the spirit of the sun in it's glory and fullest strength, embodying heat, light, and majesty. He represents the retributive and lightning swift blaze of power, striking down enemies with his gaze. He has pitiless and omnipresent knowledge of all beneath the sun. Sarapis A late God representing the fertility of the land and its' connection to the sanctity and promise of afterlife. Satet Consort of Khnum and mother of Anukis, tutelary Goddess of the Nubian frontier, in the far south of Upper Egypt. Sebek Son of Neith, Consort of Hathor, father of Khonsu. Power and strength of the Pharoahs, Patron of all reptilian forms. Occasionally represented as the source and personification of Evil. Sepa A minor protector God, called upon to defend against wild animals and evil spirits. Also associated with the necropolis, a helper of Osiris and Anubis within the mortuary. Seker A God of Darkness and Shadow, the divine essence of burial and decay. Sekhmet Daughter of Ra and consort of Ptah, war goddess and divine aspect of the power of Pharoah against enemies. Seshet Goddess of scribes, writing, history/the orderly flow of time, Patroness of libraries and archives. Foundress of temples and worship, magical patronage in that writing was a secret system of knowledge known only to an elite few. Consort of Thoth. Seth Child of Geb and Nut, sibling of Osiris, Isis, and Nephthys. Seth is complex, mostly adversarial. He defeats Osiris and is then defeated by his heir, Horus. However, at several times during the Pharoanic period in Egypt his cult was widespread and highly honoured, supplanting on occasion the identification of the Pharoah with Horus/Osiris. His beast imagery is also unusual and chimeric. Sia Divine Patron of sense perception. Child of Ra. Sothis The star Sirius, which appears above the horizon at just the time of the summer inundation of the Nile. She is Herald and Harbinger of this. Su Primordial divinity, God of the Sky created by Atum or, in some mythologies Ptah. Consort to his sister Tefnut, so ancestor of all the remaining Gods and Goddesses through their offspring Geb and Nut. Taurt Goddess of childbirth and Protectress of women. Tefnut Primordial divinity, Patroness of water, created by Atum or, in some mythologies Ptah. Consort to her brother Su and ancestress of all the remaining Gods and Goddesses through their offspring Geb and Nut. Thoth Tutelary divinity of knowledge and understanding, patron to scribes, and protector of archives, the inspiration for all knowledge-based arts and sciences, creator of writing. Scribe of the Hall of Two Truths, recording the deeds and accounts of each soul facing judgement, as well as judging. Associated with the Moon, he is the Consort of Seshet.
