Dante's Dilemma Review

Dante's Dilemma Review
Mark Angelotti is a blind psychiatrist who spends a third of his time doing expert witness work. His new boss and arch enemy, Jonathan Frain, reassigned Mark to a position where he had to work with, and help, the recently elected state attorney for Cook County, Linda O’Malley. He was placed in the middle of a political hot potato when he was asked to evaluate Rachel Lazarus, the estranged wife of a slain University of Chicago professor

Gunther Westlake, a University of Chicago professor, was found dead in a gruesome murder months before where he was castrated. He was against women’s equality. His wife, Rachel Lazarus, was arrested and confessed she murdered her husband, claiming more than ten years of domestic abuse.

O’Malley hired Brad Stephens, a local doctor, to conduct his psychiatric evaluation of Lazarus so he could place his opinion in evidence at the trial. Unfortunately, Stephens was killed in a hit and run accident days before his report was to be issued. Now, Mark was assigned to take over for O’Malley.

In the meantime, Mark was involved in a child custody dispute with his ex-wife regarding his son Louis that was getting nasty.

Dante’s Dilemma, a Mark Angelotti Novel by Lynne Raimondo is the third novel in this outstanding series. The author’s experience as a general counsel was put to good use in her true-to-life stories.

From start to finish, the intriguing, fast-paced story will keep readers turning pages until the end. It is a book that is difficult to set down as the twists and turns keep the tension strong.

The challenges of the main character and the success he has accomplished are commendable. The author has created someone who we can all look up to, and want to know more about. While he has his flaws, he overcomes them by his effort to help others.

The unexpected ending will stay with readers, and the desire to find out what happens next will keep us watching for the next novel in the series. This is a “don’t miss” series that is strong and detailed enough that we will want to reread the books from start to finish.
