Hair Color For Men

Guest Author - Lynne Chapman

If you are a man and over the age of thirty-five, hair color may be something you would rather not talk about. However, if your hair is starting to show some gray and is losing some of its vitality, there is help. Methods designed specially for men can blend in the gray, taking five to ten years off your appearance and can even change the texture of thinning hair giving it thickness and body. When applied carefully, you hair color enhancement will remain a secret between you and your hair care provider.

Are you starting to see gray dispersed throughout your hair? You may also notice that your natural hair color is becoming dull and has lost the rich color of youth. A simple and very subtle technique to remedy this is to comb or paint a tint in your original shade through your hair. This is done by using a wide toothed comb or an artistís brush. For a subtle look, you donít want to cover every hair or even every gray hair. Completely avoid some of the gray at the temples. This will give a more natural look and will not show the outgrowth. Leave the tint on for the recommended time and shampoo off.

To cover gray more aggressively, while still looking very natural, apply the tint to all of your hair except the gray at the temples. This technique will most likely require retouching the new growth about every three weeks. - To see what this requires, click here. - Unless your hair is very short, it is not wise to put the color through the entire length of the hair during the retouch procedure; just the new growth.

Spending everyday in the office can result in drab hair color. Give it a rugged outdoors look by adding a few lighter pieces in the front and through the top. This is done by choosing a blonde tint (seek assistance) or hair bleach and applying it to a few strategically placed strands of hair. Be aware that if your hair is medium brown to black, those strands can turn red so ask a professional to do this for you.

Having presented some ideas that you may not have been aware were available, may I now qualify this by stating that any hair color treatment will be more natural looking when done by your hair care professional and is more inclined to remain a well-kept secret.
