Reframing the Restrictive Diet Mindset
- I can't eat this
- I have to
- starve myself
- torture myself
- eat this rabbit food
We were back at our old stomping grounds, Seattle, WA., and decided to strike up a convo with our restaurateur-friend about Indian cuisine and their offering at his establishment. So he stands there a while at our table and proceeds to literally blow our minds with the information he shared. It was like one of those light bulb moments. He told us that his menu, as large as it was, represented less than .1% of all that Indian cuisine had to offer; and, his mission was to highlight as many dishes as possible throughout the years, on his daily specials menu, so his customers could get the authentic Indian experience.
I would literally have to multiply his menu by over 100 to cover the cuisine of India.
That's a complete reframe!
More and more folks are finding they can't handle things like gluten, refined sugar, grains, certain fruits, dairy, etc. in their diets. They're having to take them off of their shopping lists, but there are thousands of items they can replace them with that are both healthy and tasty. If you're dealing with health challenges that require special dietary considerations, instead of looking at it as a prison sentence of lifelong restrictions, look at it as the perfect opportunity to explore new things and develop new likes. You'll be surprised at what you come up with, and in a very short period of time.
Here's a great way to get started in restriction-proofing your mindset.
- Pick a new food every week to try in different ways
[It's fun, healthy, and will keep you out of that restrictive box]
- Educate yourself, in mini-sessions, on healthy, ingredients
[Acid coupled with a low oxygen environment, and fermentation [needs sugar], according to the research of Otto Warburg, is the ideal combination for creating cancer.]
- Find 1 positive action every week to incorporate into your lifestyle. This can be for your health, for your business, etc.
[There are only 24 hours in a day and you'll get to the point where you just can't get the good AND the bad done. The good will be so enjoyable, supportive, and satisfying ['cause you're going to make it that way], that giving up the bad will come as no loss at all. If you focus on what you are 'adding,' and not on what you're taking away, you'll eventually, effortlessly replace the non-productive with the productive. You'll simply crowd them out with your new positive actions. ]

- always have great, healthy, tasty options to offer. It'll help keep them alive longer, build good will, set you apart as the chef who not only makes tasty foods, but ensures that they're healthy with a great presentation. It's an all around win-win-win situation!
